- Payment information: Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.
- Communications: Any messages or correspondence you send to us via our contact form or by email.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information only for the following purposes:
- To prepare and submit your copyright registration application to the US Copyright Office.
- To communicate with you about the status of your order.
- To process payments via Stripe.
- To respond to your inquiries and customer support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How We Store and Protect Your Information
Your data is stored securely in our database (hosted on Supabase) with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. Uploaded files are stored in encrypted cloud storage and accessed only via signed, time-limited URLs.
File retention: Uploaded creative works are retained for 30 days after your registration is completed, then permanently deleted from our systems. Your order records (without the files) are retained for our records and for any future correspondence about your registration.
Third Parties We Share Data With
We share your information only with the parties strictly necessary to provide our service:
- The US Copyright Office (copyright.gov): We submit your registration application, including required personal and work information, and the work file(s), to the US Copyright Office on your behalf. The US Copyright Office is a government agency with its own public records policies.
- Stripe: Processes your payment. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.
- Resend: Sends transactional emails on our behalf.
- Supabase: Our database and file storage provider.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with marketers, advertisers, or other third parties for marketing purposes.
Cookies and Analytics
We use minimal cookies, primarily for essential website functionality. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage in aggregate, never to track individuals.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal obligations and the fact that submitted Copyright Office applications cannot be unfiled.
